SpringHill Suites Savannah Downtown/Historic District hosted its first ArtNight featuring works of art by the Kindergarten – Eighth-grade students at the Esther F. Garrison School of Visual and Performing Art. More than 400 people were in attendance to view the artwork.
“The artworks consisted of exploration of traditional and nontraditional art materials, artist tools, techniques, and terminology relevant to the visual arts,” said Brianne Thayer, sixth and seventh-grade instructor. “Students applied these skills for the development of individual artworks that coincide with their level of artistic developmental growth.”
The hotel management staff assisted in the judging of the artwork and awarded the top sixth, seventh and eighth grader. Winners include; Jose Quan, sixth grade, Morgan Badinelli, seventh grade, and Ansley Hanson, eighth grade.
“We are so honored to have been able to partner with the school and showcase the artwork created by these talented and young students” said General Manager Lee Smith. “We were particularly excited to help judge. It was a difficult choice but we are so proud of the winning students.”
All of the artwork presented at the show will be donated to Memorial Hospital.
