Lobby will feature custom murals, wall reliefs and photography to showcase local music culture. Home2 Suites by Hilton today celebrated the topping out of the brand’s first hotel in Nashville, Tenn. Owner and developer North Point Hospitality Group broke ground on the property in Spring 2011 and has now officially laid the final beam to complete the outside structure.

The Nashville Home2 Suites will open at 1800 Division Street, centrally located near Upper Broadway and a short distance from a wide range of local attractions and city institutions. The property will be a seven-story 119-suite hotel and is projected to be up and running by May 2012.

To mark the occasion, Home2 Suites and North Point Group executives invited Nashville community business leaders to the property for a brief ceremony and “Toppings, Toppings and More Toppings” lunch buffet. The reception included an acoustic guitar performance by a local artist and renderings of the finished property on display.

“As a brand, Home2 Suites has a distinct personality. It’s a colorful take on typical extended-stay accommodations that will blend seamlessly with the vibrant local culture here in Nashville,” said S. Jay Patel, president and chief executive officer of North Point Hospitality Group. “This city attracts a diverse crowd of visitors, and Home2 has something to offer everyone – that’s why this new brand appealed to us.”

As a unique feature, the Home2 Suites Nashville property will pay homage to the legendary Nashville music scene with custom artwork throughout the lobby and common areas showcasing country music murals, wall reliefs and local photography. The hotel is ideally located to draw a variety of business and leisure travelers, in close proximity to the Lower Broadway area, the Ryman Auditorium, Country Music Hall of Fame, Music Row and other attractions. Sporting events at the Bridgestone Arena, LP Field and the Centennial Sportsplex, as well as nearby Vanderbilt University and Belmont University are also expected to drive guests to the hotel.

“Anyone who visits Nashville is in town for fun, for music, and for an unforgettable experience, even if it’s a business trip,” said Bill Duncan, global head of Home2 Suites by Hilton. “The Home2 team is thrilled to be able to offer those guests a new hotel in a new style, right in the center of the action. Nashville feels like a perfect fit, and we can’t wait to see this property fully come to life over the next few months.”

All Home2 Suites properties are designed to meet the needs of modern business travelers and a younger generation of extended-stay guests with a distinct style of contemporary, comfortable accommodations with an emphasis on flexibility and easy access to technology. The recently launched brand currently has five hotels open in Fayetteville, N.C.; Layton, Utah; Baltimore, Md.; San Antonio, Texas and West Valley City, Utah; with 9 others under construction and more than 60 additional properties in various stages of development.

In developing the concept of the brand, the Home2 Suites team found research shows guests in extended-stay situations seek community and connection after several days, even if it means they are singularly working among others in a common space. To help address that need, all Home2 Suites properties feature an open lobby area with an approximately 4,200-square-foot community space called the “Oasis.” The Oasis, which includes communal and individual work zones, wireless access, a 52” flat-screen TV and an expansive complimentary continental breakfast service, is designed to encourage a social environment where guests can relax together, research the local area, check e-mail and enjoy an assortment of hospitality resources unrivaled in this segment of the hotel industry.

All guest suites at the new Nashville property will include a variety of modern features and amenities, such as the proprietary Home2 Suites “working wall,” which incorporates the kitchen and flexible working space connecting separate living and bedroom zones. A fully accessorized kitchen will contain a refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, place settings for six, microwave oven and coffee maker, and the media/working zone will feature a queen-size sofa/sleeper, 42” flat-screen TV, roll-around ottoman, ambient task lighting and an iHome alarm clock with iPod port and MP3 jack. Various pieces of furniture in each of the suites will also be designed to move around, allowing guests to create customized living spaces and adjustable storage options.

The Home2 Suites brand is committed to environmentally conscious practices and has been incorporating a number of sustainable living fixtures and services into all new hotels. In addition to recycling throughout the hotel, guest suites feature low-flow showers and faucets, biodegradable food trays, compact fluorescent light bulbs, dual-flush toilets, recycled flooring, Energy Star appliances, and carpet and surfaces made from recycled product and other sustainable product selections. Home2 Suites has also rolled out Hilton’s portfolio of brand’s proprietary LightStay system, which measures energy and water use and waste and carbon output at Hilton Worldwide properties around the globe.
